Information Technology in the Criminal Justice Field

Last semester, I took a criminal justice course entitled Public and Private Security. In the course we examined the roles of the private security industry. The chapter that I enjoyed most was the chapter on computer security in which I learned about the different types of cybercrimes and cyber problems such as the following: fraud, identity theft, cyberterrorism, computer hacking, cyberstalking, computer use by pedophiles, computer viruses, spam, software piracy, spyware, and data security. Knowing about these types of crimes in today’s 21st century-connected world will allow us to effectively maintain a safe internet for children and adults.
