Richland County School District One Summer SOAR 2018 Camp – Open to ALL students in state and out!
June 11 @ 9:00 am - June 14 @ 12:00 pm
Audience: 3rd – 8th graders
Summer SOAR week one theme and focus: Gamers, Gnomes and Drones – STEM/Technology
Using the various robots, participants will focus on physical computing by bringing robotics projects to life using computer programming. The hands-on activities and challenges serve multi-purpose: introduce and reinforce STEAM concepts and their many applications and fundamentals learned in the classroom and building 21st Century Skills through:
Project Base Learning
Cognitive, Language, Social and emotional development
Participants will work individually and in a group setting to create a final project that will be presented on the end of the camp week, June, 14th, 2018. The activities and challenges delivered throughout the camp will teach technology in a fun and engaging way which aligns with K-12 Computer Science Framework, content standards in ELA, Mathematics and Science, ITEEA standards in Technology Literacy, ISTE National Education Technology Standards, and overall preparation for South Carolina K-8 Computer Science requirement beginning school year 2018- 2019 .

Bradley Elementary – Host school for Bradley, Satchel Ford, Brennan, and Brockman Elementary Time: 9:00 am-10:00 am
Crayton Middle – Host school for Crayton and Hand Middle Time: 9:00 am-10:00 am
**Before and afterschool care provided at all elementary school clusters by EdVenture and YMCA. A seperate registration is required through EdVenture or YMCA for before and aferschool care.
Behavior Policy: Each student is to participate and be respectful in class. There will be no texting, accessing personal email, or accessing non-class websites during class sessions. Participants may use cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc. during designated break times. We reserve the right to dismiss any student in response to inappropriate or unsafe behavior. There will be no refund for unused camp time if this occurs.
