DiverseIT Presents: Community Cyber Safety Event
October 25, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
At DiverseIT’s Community Cyber Safety event, we’ll share information and knowledge to help you understand what the risks online are and how to protect yourself, your family, and your community.
Wouldn’t it be fantastic to know that what kids are doing online would be 100% safe and appropriate? Unfortunately, that’s just not the case right now.
We know the Internet can be wonderful for kids. They can use it to research school reports, communicate with teachers and other kids, and play interactive games. But online access also comes with risks, like inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and online predators, so kids and teens need some training and support in identifying these risks and avoiding them, as well as how to get out of risky situations.
Adults and Elders can also be targets for cyberbullying, phishing, scams to obtain personal information and identity theft and they need to be aware of common tactics used.
Learn what you need to know to keep yourself and your family safe online in this interactive online event where Lisa Honold from the Center for Online Safety will talk about:
- Popular apps kids are using
- Common risks online for kids and teens
- Common tactics used by predators and identity thieves
- Effective tools and strategies to prevent harms online
