Chelsea Rodawalt – Helping Technology Companies Thrive

I’m a Technology Consultant with TriNet. I build relationships with the executive leadership team at small and mid-sized technology companies to provide executives with consulting advice regarding HR and how best to manage their infrastructure needs.

I studied Film and Digital Media at Baylor University and have always had a deep interest in the technology behind different cameras and editing software. After working in the industry for a while in Manhattan (Heard City, ESPN), I decided to take my talents to help small technology companies get the resources they need to take their product to market and grow their business. Overall, I’ve worked in the technology field for 12 years.

My Road to a Tech Career

I took sight, sound and motion my freshman year at Baylor University, taught by Dr. Michael Korpi. From his first lecture, I was hooked. I wanted to know everything about applied media aesthetics, and how our different needs and senses impact diffusion of innovation.

I have (and have had) many mentors and directors who have helped me get to where I am today. My most memorable is Peter Corbett of Industry Color (formerly Click 3X), who enabled me to break into the world of production and technology. He introduced me to many software tools such as Avid ProTools, AutoDesk and other various Adobe programs.

What’s Happening in Technology Now (and What Will Happen Tomorrow)

Blockchain is one of the most favorite topics trending today. Even those who haven’t engaged in cryptocurrency or know how it works are talking about it.

I am very interested to see the advancements trending in the automotive industry in regard to vehicle technology. It will be interesting to see how other automobile manufacturers are competing to keep up with manufacturers such as Tesla. I am also interested to see how social media evolves and how it will continue to effect e-commerce, specifically how people buy, in the next coming years.

To Truly Succeed in Technology…

We need more women in technology. To do this, we need to instill in girls at a young age that they can be software engineers, developers, or whatever they desire.

The most important skills (for everyone)?

  • Grit
  • Perseverance
  • Confidence

For everyone just starting out, or advancing your career: Go for it and never doubt yourself.

Get a mentor – find someone who wants to help you on your journey and will be there to help and coach you at every crux and victory.
