10 Ways to Use EdTech & Make Your Classes Extra Awesome This Year!

Technology, learning, and teaching are having some of the best times ever. There is so much innovation happening in technology, and it is delightful to see how it gets absorbed into our education system. The recent trends and innovations in the EdTech sector show us that there are a plethora of options catering to the needs of every type of student and teacher.
EdTech can be used quite efficiently by teachers as well as students to increase learner engagement. But for the success of these education technologies, proper implementation is the key. We need to support the entire system so that there are no glitches. Here are some excellent ways that EdTech can be used in school to make classroom learning even more interesting.

1. Creativity

There is so much creativity hidden in children that all it takes is the right environment and encouragement for it to surface. When students get assignments, naturally, they want to create their best work. Students can make use of the endless resources that are available on the net and create fantastic, cool assignments. In fact, some children who become great at this can help other students as well!

2. Augmented Reality

STEM education should never be boring! Augmented Reality technology has made its mark in the education technology sector – where it is being used most innovatively to teach the concepts of science, math, and technology. Students love to learn these concepts, especially from an interactive methodology. Many augmented reality tools and apps are in place, which makes teaching and learning an enriching experience.

3. Interactive Environments

Teachers and learners thrive in an interactive learning environment. It brings out the best in both. Many tools and sites are available right now that make remote working no longer a constraint. Even if the teacher and learners are in different locations, the interactions between them are not curtailed. Interactive whiteboards have changed the face of online learning or tutoring, making classroom sessions quite interactive.

4. Empowered Students

Power surely does wonders! Among students, when used in the right manner, power can bring about some fantastic results. When teachers give controlled power to students, then their engagement level increases. For example, allowing the students to brainstorm ideas and choose their topic of study brings better results. Students can come up with suggestions for the type of technology used in the lesson.

5. Webquest

Any lesson format can be taught in an inquiry-oriented format. Trying out a Webquest is a super idea. There is always more to learn and explore. Students can search the internet for specific lesson oriented topics. There are many Webquests available, prepared by enthusiastic teachers, that are waiting to be discovered.

6. Writing Skills

All students (K through college) have loads of assignments to finish – that all require proper writing skills. When their writing skills (including vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar usage, etc.) are all used in the right manner, students can successfully complete their assignments.
But what if their writing skills are not up to the mark? It then becomes a herculean task to complete the work accurately and on time. Fortunately, there are many easy-to-use resources on the web which students can use to enhance their writing skills.

7. Gamify

Gamification in education is a new and upcoming trend that makes learning fun. The benefits of gamification in education include making classroom learning fun and interesting, increasing the levels of engagement and retention and applying solutions to real world issues.

8. Multimedia Presentations

Giving learners projects requiring multimedia presentations is another way teachers are using educational technology to their advantage. Students learn most effectively by doing. When students give presentations, they are learning the technology needed, thereby enhancing the technical skillset. They are also learning the critical soft skill of communication.

9. Video Lessons

Adding videos, either created by the teacher or taken from credible resources on the internet, raises the lesson plan quotient. Students tend to learn better in a visual, multimedia environment. Here are some resources for using video in the classroom.

10. Feedback

Teaching and learning never end! The right feedback at the right time ensures these achieve their objectives. Teachers can get real-time feedback from students by using some excellent tools. There are many applications like survey monkey, google forms, etc. that teachers can use to get insightful feedback from their students. This feedback will help teachers adjust and improve their lessons to ensure students reach their learning goals.
