IT-oLogy and Dominion Energy Collaborate in Creating a New Veteran IT Training Program

Columbia, S.C.—(Jan. 14, 2020)— IT-oLogy is now accepting applications for the Veteran Workforce Re-Entry Program.  Funded by a grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, this new veteran-focused training program offers qualifying U.S. military veterans the opportunity to participate in CompTIA certification courses that will help prepare them for a career in Information Technology. Through this grant, veterans can take these courses free of charge.

“South Carolina has a shortage of qualified IT professionals to fill open jobs across the state.  IT-oLogy recognizes veterans as ideal candidates to train and employ for these positions, and thanks to Dominion Energy, IT-oLogy can offer veterans the opportunity to be trained quickly at no cost to them,” said Tammy Mainwaring, president of IT-oLogy.

Veterans with aptitude for information technology are encouraged to apply now for the Veteran Workforce Re-entry program through IT-oLogy’s website, www.it-ology.org/veterans, as space is limited.

“We are pleased to partner with IT-oLogy as part of Dominion Energy’s ongoing commitment to help equip veterans with critically needed skills for a modern workforce,” said Rodney Blevins, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina. “This training program can greatly benefit veterans who transition into a high-demand field with well-paying jobs.”

Three CompTIA certifications courses will be offered and taught at IT-oLogy as bootcamp courses by a certified CompTIA instructor. Gaining an industry-recognized IT certification is an invaluable step towards a career in IT and allows veterans an opportunity for re-entry into the workforce.

The program will kick off in February with the CompTIA A+ certification course February 17 – 28. Applications for this certification will close on Feb. 3, 2020. A second A+ course will be taught March 16 –27. Additional CompTIA courses taught at IT-oLogy are posted in the events section at www.it-ology.org.
