30 Install and Learn More about Ubuntu

Open IT Lab

Thirty people attended the Ubuntu 101 Installation & Overview workshop held Thursday evening, July 26. Among those were students, professors and local IT professionals. Instructors Jeremy Bicha and Ben Francis familiarized participants with Ubuntu and walked them through the complete installation process. Many attendees brought their own computers and some used IT-oLogy provided laptops to learn the installation process. Also discussed were key components of the operating system as well as the high quality free software made available such as word processing applications, photo management tools, web browsers and games. Attendees left the workshop knowing how to install Ubuntu and a lot more about the world’s third most popular operating system. Ubuntu 102, the advanced Ubuntu workshop, will be offered again in August.

Ben Francis, Columbia Linux Users Group President, helps attendees install Ubuntu.
